Top 3 Weight Lifting Routines Compared
"I'm sick & tired of bouncing from one lame weight lifting routine to another. I just want something I can stick to, that keeps me in shape..."
Alright, so if you've been looking around for a lifting routine, you probably found that it's way too hard to find one that's decent. I tried searching for months, and ended up trying dozens of routines. It's not that they're all terrible, it's just that it's too hard to tell where they came from. I tried some from magazines, some from muscle building forums, others from random dudes' blogs, but I just couldn't seem to land on that one perfect weight lifting routine that was created by a professional, but I could tweak to my style.
Now, while this shouldn't be all that difficult, too many people don't even realize that they end up "devoting" (wasting is more like it!) months to a random workout routine they found in some forum, only to switch to something else later because it's not working.
For one, that's definitely NOT going to keep you on the right track, because it's too easy to just call it quits when life gets in the way. So, being an intelligent, reasonable person, you turned to the Internet to find a respectable weightlifting routine that will work for you, right?
Well, I have a really quick story for you: I used to be chubby (207lbs at 6' 3"), even though I played sports, worked out, ran & took whey protein for years. I stayed active, and I didn't eat too bad, so I couldn't figure out what was wrong.
Well, I eventually realized that the problem was actually the lifting routines I was using! I was still working out with random routines I had picked up along the way, and it was boring and hard to stay motivated.
Fast-forward to today: I spent $544.80 on 9 popular routines I found online, and these are the results I've gotten so far:
- I'm 186 lbs
- I lost 28 lbs of excess fat
- I gained about 7 lbs of lean muscle mass
- I dropped my body fat from 19.6% to 11.4%
- I more than doubled my max. bench
- I look & feel better than I did when I was playing sports year-round
Now, I'm sure you're thinking: "Cool, but there's no way I'm spending $500 on a weight lifting routine", right? Don't worry: that's why I made this page (well, the whole site really)! My goal here is to show you the top 3 routines/programs I found, out of the 9 I bought, to help you make the best decision based on what you want to achieve with your body.
So, looking through the short reviews below will save you time & money picking the best routine for your goals.

"The Muscle Gain Truth" is a program by a natural bodybuilder & strength coach named Sean Nalewanyj. This product is loaded with everything you could ever need to help build muscle naturally, without having to waste lots of money on trainers or supplements. It's also nice that it's all conveniently online...
A lot of the books on the Internet just have a bunch of "old news" information, that you probably already know, so don't waste your time. But if you're looking for a solid weightlifting routine to follow that takes the thinking out of the equation so you can focus on working out, then Sean's "Muscle Gain Truth" is what you've been looking for.
The program comes with a customizable, 26-week printable weight lifting routine, that lays out all the exercises for you. Plus, it comes with a video training section in the members' area that will show you exactly HOW to do every single workout in the routine!
(This part was huge for me, because I was terrible with form & technique, but the videos helped me learn to do the exercises the right way...)
It also comes with personalized exercise routines, in case you get injured, have joint problems, or just don't have much time to work out, which is nice.
Note: this product is NOT just a weight lifting routine. That's why I bought it, to be honest, but there's sooooo much more included. The biggest thing is the 229-page ebook (PDF) called "The Truth About Muscle". This is the report that Sean wrote when he got sick of the magazines lying to people to sell more ads & supplements.
While the site is hyped-up and "in your face", don't worry about it. Sean is passionate about what he does, and he knows his stuff. Keep in mind that he's not a web designer, he's a bodybuilder!
Also, there were very few free weight lifting routines that also helped with nutrition, and it's been said that what you eat is 80% of the battle! How much sense does that make? None. Well, "Muscle Gain Truth" comes with detailed meal plans in 12-week cycles, ranging from 2,000 calories/day to 6,000 calories/day! The best part is, they even come with complete grocery lists, so you seriously do not have to think...=)
Oh yeah, and on top of all that, the package comes with a membership to the "School of Muscle", which includes weight lifting routines from dudes like Craig Ballantyne, Mike Geary, Vince DelMonte, Jason Ferruggia & Lee Hayward (fitness pros).
Plus, you can even track your nutrition & meals, your strength increase, your body measurement improvements and workout progress, with printable logbooks or an online tracking system...whichever your prefer.
Out of all 9 of the programs I bought, "The Muscle Gain Truth" helped me stay on track and keep improving more than any other. Rather than just reading a bunch of books about working out, you want access to easy-to-follow weight lifting routines, meal plans and videos to help you maximize your results, right?
Sweet, then check out "The Muscle Gain Truth":

UPDATE: I just made a "video tour" of the lifting routine you'll get with "Muscle Gain Truth" and some sneak peeks at the program! Check it out:

Overall, Muscle Gain Truth is the best weight lifting routine I've ever used. I've been able to stick to it the longest (going on 14 months now), and it works. The results I've gotten have been because of the consistent, gradual use of a solid routine that gets the job done.
If you're ready to stop jumping from one routine to the next, give Muscle Gain Truth a try: |

P.S. - Sean offers an excellent web course to help you build maximum muscle in minimum time, and I would highly recommend signing up for it! He didn't send me any spam, and it's free even if you don't buy Muscle Gain Truth, so why not see what he has to offer without spending a dime?

The No Nonsense Muscle Building package has my 2nd favorite weight lifting routine. It was created by Vince Delmonte, a guy that went from 149 lbs to 210 lbs of mostly muscle in 24 weeks, and went on to place 1st in a fitness model championship & write for Men's Fitness magazine!
Vince made a nice set of routines, and the package comes with meal plans & trackers, too. It's an incredible package, but I didn't like two things about it:
1) The routine is kind of tough to customize to the workouts you like, because Vince setup a bunch of preset routines with a web-based weight lifting routine creator. That said, it's kind of nice to have the choice between multiple workout styles if you're not too picky about the workouts you do.
2) Instead of videos of the workouts, there's a little graphic that shows how to do each exercise, which didn't help me as much as the videos.
The routine is solid, and it focuses on toning & gradual muscle growth.
The price is reasonable at $77, considering I was paying $72 every month for my gym membership and protein powder, and this is a one-time cost. Not to mention the fact that most trainers charge $20-$100 per hour (mine charged $36, 1-hour 3x each week), depending on the level you want to reach.
Wondering what comes with "No Nonsense Muscle Building"? Check it out:
- 215-page "No Nonsense Muscle" ebook (PDF file)
- Beginner & Advanced 29-week complete workout routine
- DVD/Video series - Video tutorials on workouts, techniques, etc.

Let me be honest with you: the only reason I even bought this weight lifting program was because I had read a lot about Jon Benson, and respected his opinion. I wanted to find out what he was really doing in these seven magic minutes...
Here's the deal: I would NOT recommend buying this program alone, unless you're busy and can't spend much time in the gym. I incorporated this system into my existing workout routine, though, and it worked really well!
It was a tough routine, but it got boring, and there isn't much you can do to change it over time. He mentions that he includes a 14-minute & a 21-minute weightlifting routine, and I would imagine they would be really tough, but I like to stick with more traditional exercises to gradually build muscle & tone up.
However, in combination with one of the kick-ass weight lifting programs above, this system works as some much-needed cardio and gives you the benefits of better results in less time.
Similar to "Turbulence Training" (but based more on toning and building muscle than burning fat), Jon's routine is setup to do extremely high-intensity exercises in short bursts. He outlines the system in an ebook, and provides step-by-step videos for each muscle group you want to work with:
- "7 Minute Muscle System" ebook
- 7-minute method training video
- Amazing Chest training video
- Sculpted Back training video
- Shoulders training video
- Legs training video
- Arms training video
- Butt & legs training video
Find out more about it. Check out the "7 Minute Muscle System" now: |

P.S. - Jon Benson is another fitness pro, and he offers some helpful free info in his email course, too. I signed up for the free course, and that's why I ended up buying the system. It's good stuff...

Conclusion - "Top 3 Weight Lifting Routines Compared"
Overall, if you're looking for a solid weight lifting routine you know you'll stick to, printable meal plans, a community of other lifters to talk to and learn from, an exercise video database to make sure you don't get injured, and even a routine specifically created for you if you happen to get hurt, Muscle Gain Truth is the best program for you.
That said, I love the flexibility of the routines that Vince provides with No Nonsense Muscle. You get many similar reports and info from this program, and it's great overall.
Lastly, if you are looking for something to mix up your routine that is quick, 7 Minute Muscle is right up your alley. It has detailed videos that show you how to get a great lifting workout done in about 7 minutes, which is tough to beat.
